¶1. (C) PolChief delivered reftel demarche points rejecting
Russian recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia to
newly-appoined Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent
Secretary (PS),Dr. Patricia Rodgers, September 2. PS
Rodgers made no substantive comments in reply but indicated
the GCOB was likely to take a stand similar to ours. She
added later that the GCOB was aware of the situation in
Georgia, but that it was not a priority issue. COMMENT: The
PS's statements reflect the overall GCOB position of taking
polite notice but showing no motivation or inclination to
take action on distant geopolitical issues unconnected to
specific Bahamian interests or priorities. END COMMENT.
