4 (b,d).
1. (C) On February 12, the Ambassador sent a letter to
Minister of Foreign Affairs Moses Wetangula urging the
government of Kenya to recognize Kosovo as soon as possible
after it declares independence. The mission followed up with
a formal diplomatic note.
2. (C) Given the nature of the current political crisis in
Kenya, we are unable to assess whether Kosovo will have
Kenya's public support immediately following a declaration of
independence. We will continue to raise this as an urgent
matter with Minister Wetangula and others as appropriate
opportunities arise.
