2008.
The following letter from President Mwai Kibaki was sent
to the President on July 3 via diplomtic note. Begin text:
On the auspicious occasion marking the 232nd independence
anniversary celebrations of the United States of America,
the Government and people of Kenya join me in conveying
to your Excellency and through you to the Government and
the people of the United States of America, warm
congratulations and best wishes.
I note with satisfaction that Kenya and the United States
have continued to enjoy excellent bilateral relations,
guided by our common commitment to democratic values,
shared development and global peace and security. The
Government of Kenya greatly appreciates the supportive
role and generous assistance extended by the United
States to the people of Kenya in resolving the 2007 post
elections crisis.
As we join you in celebrating this historic occasion, it
is my earnest desire that the bonds of friendship and
cooperation existing between our two countries will be
strengthened in the years ahead for the mutual benefit of
our two peoples.
I wish your Excellency good health,long life and
prosperity for the people of the United States of America.
