(C) During a December 21 meeting with Minister Responsible
for Foreign Affairs Yusef bin Alawi, the Ambassador delivered
relevant reftel points on a potential Pakistan donors
conference in early 2009. Bin Alawi acknowledged a "need"
for international assistance for Pakistan and mentioned a
joint Oman-Pakistan investment fund as an example of Omani
economic cooperation with Islamabad. He was noncommittal,
however, regarding Omani participation or a possible pledge
at an international donors conference.
