Post has requested an appointment with Ambassador Ali bin
Salim al-Ma'amari, Director of the Office of Peaceful Nuclear
Technology at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss
reftel questions regarding Oman's plans to develop nuclear
energy. However, due to his personal schedule, numerous
local holidays and government preparations for the GCC Summit
to be held in Muscat at the end of December, al-Ma'amari will
not be available until January 2009. Post will accordingly
report septel on Oman's plans for civil nuclear energy after
the meeting with al-Ma'amari takes place.
