1. (SBU) Post delivered reftel demarche via diplomatic note
on September 20. During a September 23 discussion with
Mohammed al-Hassan, Director of Political Affairs for
Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusef bin Alawi,
Pol-Econ Chief reviewed the importance of the Forum of the
Future and urged that the Minister attend the event.
Al-Hassan promised to relay the message to bin Alawi, but did
not provide a substantive reply.
2. (SBU) The Ambassador will attempt to raise the Forum for
the Future directly with bin Alawi after the Eid al-Fitr
holiday. Post will provide further information on this issue
septel.
