Per reftel request, poloff on May 9 met with the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to stress the importance of timely submission of a 60-day report on steps the Philippines has taken to implement UNSCR 1803. Poloff informed Director for Security and Legal Matters Leah Ruiz of the Office for United Nations and Other International Organizations (UNIO) of the May 2 submission of the U.S. report. Ruiz said her office would welcome a copy of our 60-day report, which was faxed to her. She recognized that the Philippines was delayed in reporting to the 1737 Sanctions Committee and said the DFA would take necessary steps to submit a report.
