(C) A/DCM delivered reftel points to Aisha Al Khalifa of the
MFA's International Organizations (IO) Directorate on
November 30. She was unaware of the Bahraini delegation's
abstention in the First Committee vote, but reiterated the
GOB's commitment to the principles of non-proliferation and
committed to inquire about the circumstances of the vote.
A/DCM remarked that Bahrain could tangibly illustrate its
commitment to non-proliferation by voting in favor of the
resolution in the UNGA. Al Khalifa stated that she would
contact the IO Director (currently on travel) to recommend a
"yes" vote.
