(C) On July 21, EconOff discussed reftel offer of technical
assistance in revising GCC trademark law with acting
Undersecretary of Commerce Abdul Razak Zainalabedin.
Zainalabedin stated that the GOB appreciated the USG offer of
technical assistance, but asked that all discussion on this
legislation be directed to the GCC Secretariat. He said that
the Ministry of Industry and Commerce had not been
particularly concerned with this issue because Bahrain
already has strong IPR legislation and that the GOB would
fully comply with its IPR obligations under the FTA
regardless of whatever GCC legislation was adopted.
