Political Director Carlos Fernandez-Arias on August 8.
Fernandez-Arias said the GOS welcomed the arrest of Karadzic
and that although there have been no internal discussions on
the matter as of yet, the GOS is likely to join the EU
consensus of lifting the travel restrictions. Poloff
emphasized the importance of keeping the restrictions in
place as information regarding the family and remaining
fugitives is still emerging. Fernandez-Arias made note of
this concern and of the importance to the United States that
any EU action on this issue be closely coordinated with the
United States and Office of the High Representative.
