Ucelay restated FM Moratinos' belief that the Annapolis Conference was an important step in facilitating efforts by Israelis and Palestinians to conclude a final, comprehensive peace. In recent weeks, Moratinos has publically stated many times that he believes that it is possible to achieve important new agreements in the near future. Spain is committed to bolstering the legitimacy of President Abbas and the PLO through civil society development programs and financial support through EU mechanisms.
