UNCLAS LONDON 001749 SIPDIS DEPARTMENT FOR L/T THE HAGUE FOR CWC DEL E.O. 12958: N/A TAGS: PARM KTIA OPDC CWC OPCW UK SUBJECT: FCO INFORMS USA THE UAE RATIFIES BIO WEAPON CONVENTION (U) Embassy London received the following Diplomatic Note from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office dated June 23, 2008: BEGIN TEXT Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs presents his compliments to Their Excellencies and Messieurs and Mesdames the Heads of Diplomatic Missions of certain Governments with reference to the: Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction, signed at London, Moscow and Washington, 10 April 1972 (the Convention), and has the honour to inform them that on 19 June, 2008 the Government of the United Arab Emirates deposited an instrument of ratification to the Convention with the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In accordance with Article XIV(4) of the Convention, the ratification of the United Arab Emirates entered into force on 19 June, 2008. Status information on the above Convention, and on the other international agreements for which the United Kingdom is a depositary may be accessed on the internet at: http:www.fco.gov.uk/treaty.
