(C) On September 22, emboff met with Borut Valencic, advisor
in the MFA's Security Policy Division, to urge Slovenia's
opposition to Syria and Iran's nominations and support for
Afghanistan's candidacy for the IAEA Board of Governors
(reftel). Valencic noted Syria's "bad track record," and
commented that Slovenia is not "fond" of Syria efforts to get
on the Board of Governors. Valencic undertook to pass the
information to his colleagues in Vienna prior to the voting.
