1. (C) On May 13, EmbOff informed Andrej Slapnicar, MFA
Security Policy official and EU COTER Chair, of the U.S.
intention to request that the UN 1267 Sanctions Committee add
the names of three individuals (Bahrainis 'Abd al-Rahman
Muhammad Jaffar 'Ali, Adil Muhammad Mahmud Abd al-Khaliq, and
Qatari Khalifa Muhammad Turki al-Subaiy) to the Committee's
list of individuals and entities associated with Usama bin
Laden or members of the Taliban or al-Qaida. EmbOff also
conveyed the request that Slovenia co-sponsor the proposed
listing. Slapnicar stated that Slovenia would certainly not
object to the requested listing and would act accordingly
should the listing be successful. Slapnicar added that he
could not provide an answer at this time regarding whether
Slovenia could co-sponsor the listing request, but would do
so as soon as possible. Slapnicar undertook to share the
information about said individuals with all relevant
Slovenian agencies and promised to share with us any
information about the individuals known to Slovenian
officials.
