(C/NF) Diplomatic Adviser to the Portuguese Foreign Minister
Paolo Lourenco told us his minister did not intend to go to
Teheran for the Non-Aligned Movement meeting (ref A),that
Turkey's accession to the European Union depended on far more
important issues than a single court case (ref B),and that
they recognized fully the realities of the Syrian
government's diplomatic pushes (ref C). On that last topic,
the Diplomatic Adviser said that his government had a policy
of engagement with Syria that they would maintain.
