1. (U) Kuwaiti press reported on June 24 that Kuwaiti
terrorist financier and UNSCR 1267 designee Mubarak
Al-Bathali will remain in detention for an additional 14 days
pending further investigation into his role in inciting youth
to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan (reftel). Al Bathali has
been in Kuwaiti custody since May 8 and this is the fourth
extension to his detention.
2. (U) Per the current judicial order, it appears that
Al-Bathali will be eligible for release on or about July 8.
Post is seeking GOK information on whether he will be
released on that date or if his detention will be extended.
