On May 5, post received diplomatic note 60, dated April 29, 2008, from MFA's Department of International Organizations announcing its candidature for election to the Administrative Council of the Universal Postal Union. ¶2. Diplomatic note text follows: Complimentary Greetings The Government of the State of Kuwait presents its compliments to the member states in the Universal Postal Union and has the honor to inform the latter that the Government of the State of Kuwait is presenting its candidature for election to the Administrative Council (AC) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) at the 24th UPU Congress to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from 23 July to 12 august ¶2008. The State of Kuwait has been an active member of the AC since the 1989 Washington and 1994 Seoul Congresses, and continuously plays an increasingly vital role with postal administrations in all parts of the world for the development and advancement of the international postal business through its participation in the Special Fund. Kuwait's interest in AC elections is a commitment to continuing to work towards the goals and objectives of the union. Our candidacy was submitted to each member state of the UPU through diplomatic channels and we extend our best wishes for your participation in the Geneva Congress.
