Post has been able to obtain very limited information pursuant to reftel inquiry. Econoff made repeated attempts to contact Anafield Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian firm that ordered 370 sets of night vision equipment, including monoculars, binoculars, and front sights, from American Technologies Network, Corp. Initial phone calls to Anafield in April and early/mid May 2008 went unanswered or were cut-off early in conversation. Although Anafield has a working contact phone number, it's employees are cautious and the firm's behavior borders on excessive secrecy. Econoff in late May finally spoke with two apparent lower-level employees (names unknown) by phone, who confirmed that Anafield's Managing Director is Mohamed Noor Yusuf. However, Econoff was unable to speak with Mohamed. Econoff also was provided the name of Mr. Suheimei Abdullah within the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs/Internal Security, but repeated attempts at contact were unsuccessful. Similar were econoff's efforts to contact a representative within the Royal Malaysian Police (RMP), Assistant Commissioner of Police Syed Mustafa. Personnel at the offices of both men were polite but unhelpful, and would not provide their names or details on reftel order. Anafield refused outright a proposed site visit by econoff. ¶2. Econoff was therefore unable to ask the Malaysian Ministry of Internal Security about Anafield or learn background information from the company itself. Anafield does not appear to have a website, either. When questioned about reftel order, one of the aforementioned unnammed lower-level Anafield employees said that the night vision equipment was bound for the RMP Special Branch (SB) Internal Security service, but would not provide any further details. This same individual also provided the name of Mr. Suheimei mentioned above. KEITH
