(SBU) Poloff conveyed reftel demarche points, seeking
Malaysia's support to refrain from any early endorsement of
Egyptian Culture Minister Farouk Hosni for the position of
UNESCO Director General, to Nur Ayuni Zainal Abudin,
Assistant Secretary for the UN in the Malaysian Foreign
Ministry's Multilateral Political Division, on December
¶16. Ayuni thanked me for sharing the points and did not
provide any immediate feedback, but said she would pass
this information through the appropriate channels. We will
report back any subsequent response.
