1. Embassy Kinshasa recommends the following proposal from
Solidarity Center for INCLE funding.
2. Name: Solidarity Center
Requested funding amount: $499,976 - federal share 100%
Project Title: Supporting National Anti-Trafficking in Persons
Reforms in the DR Congo
Project duration: April 1, 2008 - March 31, 2010
Proposal abstract: The proposed program is designed to support the
DRC government in developing and implementing a multi-year plan of
action to combat trafficking in persons in all its forms. The
program would begin at the national level and expand to the
provincial and local levels to help ensure the application of
national anti-trafficking policies.
Solidarity Center plans to work with existing government partners,
i.e. Ministry of Labor and the Inter-ministerial Committee to
Eradicate the Worst Forms of Child Labor (WFCL),as well as employer
associations, unions, and civil society groups.
Additionally, the program is designed to identify problem areas in
existing policies, develop new anti-trafficking bills, and train
provincial and local stakeholder representatives.
