(SBU) The Government of Nepal has decided to support the
candidacy of Ambassador William Swing for the position of
Director General of the International Organization for
Migration. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed post of
the decision to vote for Swing in the election in Geneva on
June 18 in a diplomatic note dated June 10. Ambassador
Powell and the deputy refugee coordinator had reiterated the
desire for the GON's support as per Ref A in a meeting with
Foreign Secretary Acharya on June 2. Post will send a copy
of the diplomatic note to the Nepal desk officer in SCA/INS.
