1. (SBU) Polcouns informed Ibrahim Spinzada, Deputy National
Security Advisor and Deputy Director of the National
Directorate of Security (NDS),on 9/6 that the United States
had no objection if the GOA released Muhammad Ahmad, son of
Aafia Siddiqui, to his relatives from Pakistan (ref a).
Spinzada confirmed that the juvenile detention center (ref c)
had transferred Ahmad to NDS, in preparation for the boy,s
release to his Pakistani relatives.
2. (SBU) Polcouns requested NDS make every effort to arrange
a final visit by the Embassy,s consular chief prior to
Ahmad,s return to Pakistan, but made clear the Embassy did
not want to delay the boy,s release if a consular visit
could not happen quickly. Consular chief informed ICRC on
9/7 of what the Embassy had told GOA authorities.
