1. (C) PolOff visited the Ras al-Amud police station May 1.
PolOff saw that the Ras al-Amud police parking lot was nearly
full of vehicles and observed officers and security guards
moving around inside the compound. Police Spokesman Danny
Poleg, who was on the ground, confirmed that the traffic
division moved to and is open at E-1. Other divisions, he
said, are still in the process of moving to the new
headquarters. A sign in front of the station said E-1 will
open May 5, but Poleg said the date could slide a few days,
since he and many of his colleagues have yet to move.
2. (C) PolOff also visited E-1 May 1. He saw the
newly-opened traffic department, located in a small building
at the police compound's entrance. Officers looked to be
settling into their new offices, and security guards were
setting up a walk-through metal detector in the entryway.
PolOff observed more than 30 cars in the parking lot, many of
them police cars. PolOff watched a moving truck enter the
compound and saw a few people moving around in the parking
lot, similar to activity April 29.
