1. (C) Israeli National Police contacts informed ConGen RSO
April 29 that they have the final permit necessary to occupy
the newly built E-1 police station. A security guard at the
Ras al-Amud police station told POLOFF April 30 that the
traffic division is scheduled to open May 1 at E-1 and all
other sections on May 4 or shortly thereafter. The guard
said the Ras al-Amud station closed April 28 and the Sheikh
Jarrah station is serving as a base during the interim. He
added that the move into the new station is going very
quickly because the new station is fully furnished and
equipped.
2. (C) At Ras al-Amud April 30, POLOFF observed several men
carrying boxes filled with files from the police station to a
moving truck parked out front. At E-1 on April 30, POLOFF
observed more than 30 vehicles in the parking lot at the
police headquarters, many of them police vehicles. A few
individuals were moving around the parking lot. Cleared land
reported previously has not changed.
