1. (C) PolOffs visited E-1 on July 10 and observed normal
traffic and activity at the police station. Security guards
at the entrance said the station is fully functional.
2. (C) PolOff observed no activity at the former police
station at Ras al-Amud on July 11. A security guard at the
site said several yeshiva students live in the compound. He
said the police will relinquish the compound entirely to the
Bukharian community -- the owners of the property before 1948
(Ref B) -- on July 17, adding that he expects the Bukharians
to turn the compound over to the "settlers." Across the
street, PolOff observed ongoing construction of 60 new
residential units at Ma'ale HaZeitim. (Note: PolOff
previously reported the security guard said the hand over
would take place on June 25. The guard offered no
explanation for the delay. End note.)
