1.(C) Poloff met with Fikry Cassidy, Deputy Director for
International Security at the Department of Foreign Affairs
(DEPLU),on May 9 to deliver reftel points. Cassidy stated
that he would pass the information, along with the U.S.
request to co-sponsor the UNSCR 1267 listing of Revival of
Islamic Heritage Society (RIHS),to appropriate offices in
DEPLU. Cassidy told poloff he was not aware that Indonesia
had any objections to the U.S. proposal to list RIHS.
However, he did not think Indonesia would be willing to
co-sponsor the listing. Poloff underscored the importance of
working together to block the financing of terrorist
organizations. Cassidy said he would be sure to make his
colleagues aware of our request for co-sponsorship of the
listing.
