STATE 130963 ¶B. JAKARTA 1348 Classified By: DCM John A. Heffern, reasons 1.4 (b+d). ¶1. (C) SUMMARY: On December 14, DCM engaged a senior GOI official concerning USG demarche (Ref A) urging adoption of a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution endorsing the principles of the Annapolis Peace Process. Our GOI contact said Indonesia planned to support the resolution without amendment. END SUMMARY. ¶2. (C) The DCM delivered Ref A demarche to Desra Percaya, Director for International Security and Disarmament Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DEPLU),on December 14. He noted that it was important to enshrine the principles of the Annapolis Process in a UNSCR in order to sustain the momentum of the peace process. The DCM thanked Indonesia for supporting the resolution in preliminary consultations and urged the GOI to vote in favor of the current text without further amendments. ¶3. (C) Percaya said Indonesia fully supported the Annapolis Process and planned to vote in favor of the resolution. Indonesia did not intend to support any amendments to the resolution text. Percaya reiterated Indonesia's support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and said the GOI continued to seek ways to support the Palestinian Authority (PA) as it prepared for eventual statehood. (Note: Indonesia hosted a capacity building conference for the PA in July, Ref B.) HUME
