1. (C) Poloff delivered reftel demarche concerning the
proposed UNGA Third Committee compliance resolution to
Carolina Tinangon, Deputy Director for International Security
and Disarmament at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DEPLU)
on September 24. Poloff underscored the importance of a
strong resolution re noncompliance with nonproliferation,
arms limitation and disarmament agreements. Poloff urged
Indonesia to support the resolution and to consider
cosponsoring it.

2. (C) Tinangon agreed that the matter was important. She
took our points on board and promised to review the draft
resolution with other DEPLU officials. Tinangon said
Indonesia had not yet decided how it would vote. She noted,
however, that in 2005 Indonesia abstained on the previous
iteration of the noncompliance resolution.
