1. (C) SUMMARY: Mission has reviewed Reftel information
related to Iranian entities with the GOI. Department of
Foreign Affairs contact said the GOI had already taken
appropriate action in implementing UNSCRs 1747 and 1803. END
SUMMARY.
2. (C) On August 20, DepPol/C discussed reftel information
regarding the five designated Iranian entities with Andy
Rachmianto, Deputy for International Security and Disarmament
at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DEPLU). DepPol/C noted
that the U.S. designations under E.O 13382 were based on an
earlier designation by the United Nations, and that, in doing
so, the United States was fulfilling its obligations under
U.S. Security Council Resolutions 1747 and 1803. He
encouraged Indonesia to take appropriate steps if Indonesia
had not already done so.
3. (C) Rachmianto said Indonesia had held an interagency
meeting in March to implement UNSCR 1803. At that time,
DEPLU had reviewed the UN list of designated entities with
interagency counterparts and stressed that agencies exercise
the necessary vigilance, so as not to engage with the
designated entities. Thus, he advised, Indonesia had already
taken appropriate action to implement UNSCRs 1747 and 1803.
