(U) This message is Sensitive but Unclassified--Please handle accordingly. ¶2. (SBU) SUMMARY: Mission has reviewed the designations of 11 additional Iranian entities with the GOI. Our contact said he would follow up, circulating the information through the government's interagency process. END SUMMARY. ¶3. (SBU) On July 23, Dep/Pol/C reviewed reftel designations with Andy Rachmianto, Deputy Director for International Security and Disarmament at the Department of Foreign Relations. Dep/Pol/C said the July 8 designations were done under U.S. law. That said, the designations were also fully in compliance with UN Security Council Resolutions 1737, 1747 and 1803, which required all UN member states to freeze the assets of entities and individuals listed in the annexes of those resolutions. ¶4. (SBU) Per reftel, Dep/Pol/C urged the Indonesian government to take steps--including placing a freeze--should assets be available for any of the entities. ¶5. (SBU) Rachmianto said Indonesia was also in the process of implementing the three UNSCR's. He said he would review the U.S. information carefully and circulate it through the GOI interagency process.
