1. MFA Americas Desk Director Mansoor Khan advised PolCouns January
3 that the Pakistan Federal Review Board had reviewed the cases of
the four Palestinians who were jailed in 1988 for their involvement
in the September 1986 hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73. The Board
decided that, because the four had completed their sentences in
2001, they should be released. Based on the Board's
recommendations, the GOP today released the individuals to the
Palestinian Mission in Islamabad. Khan did not know what the
Palestinians planned to do with the four. The four Palestinians
released today are:
--Abdel Mutalib Rahal Miree - son of Abdullah Khalil
--Wadood Muhammad Hafiz Al Turk, aka Mohammad Bou Baker, aka Saliman
Al El Turki
--Muhammad Ahmad Al-Munawar, aka Mansoor Ali Rashid - son of Ahmad
Abdullah Munawar
--Jamal Saheed Muhammad Rahim, aka Fahad Ali Al Jaseen - son of
Saeed Muhammad Abdul Rahim

follow-up.
