(C) PolCouns delivered August 25 reftel demarche points to
MFA Director General of the Americas Mansoor Khan concerning
the anticipated return of Guantanamo Bay detainee Hafiz Qari
Mohammed Saad Iqbal Madni to Pakistan on August 29. Khan
expressed pleasure in the news and agreed to the demarche
requirements. Khan believed the news will go over well
publicly once the handover is complete and the GOP is free to
issue press statements about Madni's return. Khan identified
the Ministry of Interior as the point of contact for
arranging the transfer. Post will proceed with making the
arrangements but would appreciate Washington press guidance.
