Pakistan MFA Director for Disarmament Mohammad Kamran Akhtar.
Akhtar said that the GOP could not agree more with the need
to prevent Iran's acquisition of new supplies of uranium. He
assured PolOff that the GOP was doing everything in its power
to adhere to all resolutions/regulations of international
bodies and claimed that the GOP in fact enforced a "strict
interpretation" of same. Noting that Pakistan is already
bordered by two nuclear powers (China and India),Akhtar
frankly concluded: "It is not in Pakistan's strategic
interest to cooperate with Iran (in the acquisition of any
new supplies of uranium)."
