(C) On June 18, Poloff met with Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Director
of the Americas Desk at the MFA, to deliver reftel points and
to notify the Government of Pakistan of the upcoming
Accountability Review Board proceedings pertaining to certain
Pakistani detainees. Khan requested to know the status of
all Pakistani detainees currently being held by the USG,
noting that Pakistan wanted all detainees returned and
offering all assurances and guarantees as required. Poloff
requested that the MFA provide a list to the Embassy of the
particular detainees in question. After several subsequent
attempts by Poloff to obtain this list, Khan declined to
respond on this issue. Khan informed Poloff that the Ministry
of Interior notified the relatives of the detainees in
question of the upcoming ARB.
