On March 27, POLOFF spoke with Farhat Ayesha, the Deputy
Director for UN and International Organizations at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA),on the matter of
Pakistan's ability to provide transport and logistic support
for the UN-AU Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID). In that
Pakistan has pledged assistance to this mission, Farhat
agreed to look into the possibility of requesting additional
support for this peacekeeping effort. However, she also said
that in light of the change in government and the extent of
the request, she did not expect an answer on this matter in a
timely fashion.
