1. (C) In a March 5 meeting with MFA Assistant Director
Farhat Ayesha, POLOFF drew on reftel points regarding
concerns about piracy on Somalia's coast. Assistant Director
Ayesha noted that Pakistan shared our concerns and welcomed a
multilateral approach on the issue. Ayesha thanked POLOFF
for the information on the potential elements of the
resolution. She added that Pakistan would offer its views on
desirable elements for a potential Security Council
resolution once it had had an opportunity to consider the
issue in more depth.
