(SBU) On June 27, poloff discussed reftel points about a draft
resolution to follow on UNSCR 1735 with MFA International Law and
Treaties Department Specialist Nguyen Dang Thang. Thang indicated
no concern about the draft text. He mentioned that he was aware of
the June 30 deadline from the UNSC agenda and that guidance on the
matter had been provided to Vietnam's UN Mission in its June work
program. Since that time, the MFA had not received any report from
its UN Mission indicating any difficulty in following the guidance.
Accordingly, Thang suggested that discussions in New York about the
draft text were consistent with MFA guidance.
