On June 16, POLOFF delivered reftel points proposing a visit by
DOE/NNSA officials to discuss the Megaports Initiative to General
Department of Vietnam Customs (GDC),International Cooperation
Department Deputy Director Pham Thanh Hien. Ms. Hien said she would
report the proposal to the GDC leadership and that a decision about
the visit would require consultation with all relevant GVN agencies.
Hien also confirmed that information about the proposed visit and
the Megaports Initiative would be forwarded to Prime Minister Nguyen
Tan Dung's office this week. Post will follow up with GDC officials
in order obtain a response as soon as possible.
