RESOLUTION ON COMPLIANCE

(SBU) In a November 24 conversation with the Head of the MFA's
Peace, Security, and Disarmament Affairs Division, Pham Hai Anh,
Deputy PolCouns expressed U.S. appreciation for Vietnam's support of
the 2008 UNGA resolution on compliance in the First Committee and
urged continued support when the resolution comes up for a vote in
the UNGA plenary. Anh responded that Vietnam's policy was to fully
support non-proliferation initiatives such as these and, barring any
radical change in the substance of the resolution, would "obviously"
support the measure at the UNGA plenary.
