(SBU) On October 31, Econoff demarched the Assistant Director
of the Financial Investigations Unit (FIU) at the
Superintendence of Banks and the Assistant Director of
Multilateral Policy for the U.N. in the Foreign Ministry
requesting that Guatemala freeze the assets of the
individuals and entities listed reftel, and provided a copy
of the talking points and relevant press releases. The FIU
promised to notify Guatemalan financial institutions of the
designation and inform the Embassy if any assets for the
named individuals and entities are identified in Guatemala.
