Mission has received a communication from the Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery. This communication is number 43 on the Geneva 2008 Communications Log. ¶2. Begin text of letter. Excellency, I have the honor to write you in my capacity as Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, its causes and consequences pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 6/14. The above mentioned resolution has tasked me, as Special Rapporteur, to enter into dialogue with "Governments, treaty bodies, special procedures, specialized agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and non-governmental organizations and other relevant sources, including on slavery practices and, as appropriate, an in line with the current practice, respond effectively to reliable information on alleged human rights violations with a view to protecting the human rights of victims of slavery and preventing violations". In this context, I would like to express my interest in meeting with you in Geneva at a time most convenient with you on any of one of the following days: 10, 11 or 12 September ¶2008. The objective of the meeting will be to discuss the scope of my mandate which will primarily focus on forced labor, child labor, and domestic workers. I am hoping for your positive response.
