(SBU) POLOFF delivered reftel demarche to Emma Leonard, First
Secretary, Irish Aid on April 3. Ireland recognizes the need

for additional aid for Iraqi refugees, Leonard said, and
agrees that health care and education are necessary first
steps to prepare them for their return to Iraq. Over the
past two years, Ireland has contributed almost 5 million
euros to various aid projects for Iraqi refugees, Leonard
stated, including the UNHCR fund for education and the WHO.
Although she said that she could not yet provide funding
details for planned contributions in 2008, Leonard indicated
that Ireland plans to continue contributing to these funds
during the next year.
