1. RTD broadcast a two-minute news segment in Somali during the
June 18 evening news. The tagline stated that UNHCR gave clothing,
shoes, and toys to children at the Ali-Addeh refugee camp in
southwest Djibouti in preparation for the celebration of World
Refugee Day. RTD reported that the donated items were gifts from
soldiers from Camp Lemonier and the American people, and U.S.
soldiers were shown briefly participating in the orderly
distribution of goods to refugee children. The lapse in security
and loss of the donated goods was not broadcast (refel). RTD
highlighted the positive aspects of the day, including a brief
interview with the UNHCR Representative and footage of the items
donated. In the interview, the UNHCR Rep thanked the American
people and soldiers for their support of World Refugee Day and the
refugees at the camp.
