Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation (MFA) told POLOFF that the
Government of Tanzania (GOT) appreciated receiving details on
T9wUYQQuprisoners of
conscience proposed during the 60th anniversary year of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights. While Hemela was not
able to confirm whether the Governene}or the proposal at this time, she did request
that the Ministry be kept informed about the declaration.
2. POLOFF stressed that since civil society and a number of
TanzaF%xQL=Q:yout on human
rights issues, co-sponsoring the declaration would be a
timely and appropriate step for the Government of Tanzania.
Hemela promised she would forward our viewpoyANQaj, Director of MFA's Multilateral
Affairs Division, and would contact the Embassy with any
subsequent reply.
