STATE 52027 ¶B. DFAT MATHEWS-DTRA SPENCER E-MAIL OF 22 APRIL 2008 ¶C. STATE 38571 ¶D. CANBERRA ¶1. (U) This is an action request - please see para 4, below. ¶2. (U) As instructed Ref A, poloff reapproached Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Global Initiative (GI) point of contact, Mohan Mathews, Executive Officer, Counter-Terrorism Cooperation Section, on May 16 to urge again that Australia participate in the GI Information Portal Advisory Committee (GIIPAC) Meeting in Tallinn, Estonia, June 2-4. ¶3. (U) Mathews repeated his previous response (Ref B), regretting the GOA would be unable to participate in the Tallinn meeting, but noting Australia's continued strong interest in the development of the GIIP. He noted the GOA would shortly provide comments on the draft User Guidelines as a contribution to the discussions. ¶4. (SBU) ACTION REQUESTED: In connection with the GI 4th Plenary, Mathews asked if the U.S. would be able to share what outcomes were expected from the various agenda items. For example, under the Exercises item, will the Plenary simply consider the report from the exercise conducted by Spain, or will it undertake policy discussions? Under the item entitled 2007-2008 Partner Nation Achievements since 3rd Meeting, will the United States present the report on the Molybdenum-99 workshop that was jointly hosted by the U.S. and Australia in Sydney in December 2007? Embassy would appreciate responses to the above questions and any other descriptive detail on the agenda in order to help the GOA prepare for the 4th Plenary. STETTENBAUER
