DELIVERED TO EGYPTIAN AUTHORITIES

(U) We delivered reftel request for clearance on behalf of
the R/V Oceanus to Dr. Maged El Sherbini, senior advisor to
the Minister for Scientific Research and Technology, and to
Mohamed Nasr, in the MFA's Division for Environmental Affairs
and Sustainable Development. Nasr and El Sherbini will
coordinate the request with the relevant Egyptian
authorities, including the Navy. El Sherbini has all the
details on the itinerary and research objectives of the
voyage and will be in touch with the embassy if further
questions arise.
