RESOLUTION ON COMPLIANCE

(SBU) In response to reftel demarche delivered on September
24, Vilmos Hamikus, MFA Security and Non-proliferation
Department Head, told POLOFF on October 9 that he and his
colleagues "are studying the text in a positive manner and
don't see any particular problem." He noted the importance
of the resolution, commenting that Hungary is in favor of
submission to the First Committee; however, a final position
on the U.S. proposal, to include co-sponsorship, awaits
Hungary's consultations with EU partners. Hamikus will
travel to NY the week of October 13 to meet with Hungary's UN
delegation.
