1. (SBU) On October 2, Econoff met with Ministry of Economy
Bilateral (Non-EU) Relations Director Katalin Csorba and
delivered reftel points. Csorba agreed that the Financing
for Development (FfD) Outcome Document should be balanced and
should be an accurate reflection of countries' economic
policies. She noted that in Hungary, economic issues - even
those taken up at the UN - are generally coordinated through
the Ministry of Economy, in this case under State Secretary
for International Economic Relations Abel Garamhegyi.
Accordingly, she did not believe that internal coordination
would be an issue for Hungary, but understood the importance
of ensuring that countries coordinate their positions
internally. NOTE: EB/TPP DAS Singh is scheduled to meet with
Mr. Laszlo Varkonyi, Garamhegyi's Trade Policy Director
during her trip to Hungary on October 14. Varkonyi will
likely be interested in DAS Singh's thoughts on how she sees
the negotiations proceeding in the UN prior to the Review
Conference in Doha. End note.


2. (SBU) Director Csorba also indicated that she may be
traveling to the U.S. during the first week of December, and
that Minister for National Development and Economy Gordan
Bajnai may be planning a visit to the U.S. in mid-January.
