1.(C) Political/Economic Chief reviewed reftel points with
Dusan Kristofik, MFA's Director of the 5th Territorial
Department (Americas),on March 3. Kristofik stated that the
GOS sees no reason to oppose the March 6-7 visit to Cuba by
EU Development and Humanitarian Assistance Commissioner
Michel, but agrees with the U.S. on the line he should take
during the trip. That line is consistent with the EU's
dual-track policy, Kristofik added, expressing confidence
that Michel would hew to the EU's Common Position.
