(SBU) DCM drew on refs A, B, and C in an August 25 discussion with Maria Krasnohorska, MFA Director General for International Organizations and Humanitarian Assistance. Krasnohorska appreciated U.S. communicativeness on the Georgian situation and said the Slovak MFA "reads the situation the same way." Ensuring respect for Georgia's territorial integrity is the priority issue for Slovakia, and Krasnohorska said Slovakia's representatives have made this clear in all international fora, including European Council meetings. ¶2. (SBU) Krasnohorska said Slovakia was a vocal proponent of the OSCE Permanent Council's August 19 decision to endorse sending observers to Georgia, and that FM Jan Kubis immediately wrote to DefMin Jaroslav Baska requesting he consider making members of the Slovak armed forces available for an OSCE mission in Georgia. The MoD reacted quickly and Slovakia nominated an experienced officer for the OSCE mission last Friday. Krasnohorska did not know when OSCE will decide which nominated observers to deploy. Krasnohorska expressed the hope that OSCE observers will be deployed to all areas of Georgia, including South Ossetia and Abkhazia. ¶3. (SBU) Slovakia donated emergency humanitarian aid worth 186,000 Euro to Georgia soon after fighting broke out. Krasnohorska reported that aid is now in Georgia, after a French aircraft was found to transport Slovak and Austrian donations on August 21. In addition, Slovakia has donated 1,000,000 Slovak crowns (approximately 50,000 USD) to the International Organization for Migration for their work in Georgia. OBSITNIK
